New Brazil-Panama Flights

By the Caribbean Journal staff

Copa Airlines is launching new flights between Panama and both Salvador and Fortaleza in Brazil.

The carrier will fly to Fortaleza and Salvador beginning July 18 and 24, respectively, adding up to a new total of nine destinations in Brazil for Copa.

It also means two more cities to connect to Panama’s large hub in Panama City, one of the biggest gateways for Latin American travelers heading to the Caribbean.

“Copa Airlines is proud to commence flights to Fortaleza and Salvador, in Brazil,” said Copa Airlines chief executive Pedro Heilbron. “These new routes allow Copa Airlines to continue to expand connectivity from the Hub of the Americas, in Panama, with the important northeastern region of Brazil and the increasingly interesting and attractive Caribbean region.”

The Salvador flights will operate on Tuesdays and Fridays, while the Fortaleza flights will operate on Wednesdays and Sundays.

VIDEO: Checking in to The Landings, Saint Lucia

It’s on one of the most beautiful stretches of sand in Saint Lucia.

The 85 rooms are spacious and beautifully appointed.

The food is outstanding, whether you’re at the signature eatery, The Palms, or ordering what is some of the best rooms service you’ll encounter in the Caribbean.

But none of that is the story.

Here at The Landings Resort and Spa in Saint Lucia, the big story is the service.

Your every request is attended to, your every need is covered and your every question is answered.

It’s the kind of ultra-attentive, ultra-knowledgeable variety that’s a premium in the travel industry these days, and one that sets a standard for the Caribbean.

And when you combine that with a great beach, great rooms and great food, you have an extraordinary place to stay.

A Great Little Jerk Shack in Montego Bay

It isn’t hard to find jerk in Jamaica – particularly in Montego Bay, where the area’s main highway on the way to Ocho Rios is filled with roadside jerk shacks, led by the world-famous Scotchie’s.

But there’s one shack in the heart of Montego Bay’s Rose Hall district that’s also worth the stop.

It’s called Sun & Fun Jerk, and it has the added benefit of being set in one of Montego Bay’s greatest shopping destinations, the Shoppes at Rose Hall.

Unlike many of the roadside stops, however, it’s a comfortable, bright and breezy space, with a large bar and a wide selection of jerk: fish, pork, chicken and even lobster.

The verdict? Very good jerk, particularly the ultra-tender chicken.

Even better? It’s across the way from one of the island’s top cigar destinations.
