Monica Puig’s Big Welcome in Puerto Rico

Olympic gold medalist Monica Puig returned home to a big welcome this week to Puerto Rico, following her historic women’s singles tennis victory in Rio.

Puig’s victory made her the first-ever Puerto Rican to win a gold medal for the island.

“[I am] enjoying my time at home so much,” she wrote on social media Sunday. “Really happy to be here with my family and cannot wait to see everyone at the official festivities here in San Juan on Tuesday.”

Indeed, Puig will be the subject of a major public ceremony at the Puerto Rico Coliseum that day.

“Your victory is for your people a halo of light in the depths of the night,” Puerto Rico Governor Alejandro Garcia Padilla told Puig.

The 10 Best Hotels in Bonaire

The tiny Dutch-Caribbean territory of Bonaire is big with divers, who flock to its fish-filled waters, thriving coral reefs and 89 dive sites. And there’s plenty for landlubbers to enjoy as well (see our recommendations, here). But whether you dive or you don’t, you’re going to need somewhere to stay. So here are our picks of the Best Bonaire Hotels.

Best Bonaire Hotels

Harbour Village Beach Club Bonaire’s biggest (and only five-star) resort has 34 condo-style rooms and suites, so it’s perfect for families. It’s own white-sand sweep; the waterfront, ship-shaped Balandra restaurant (order the tuna tartare); and a location just a 15-minute kayak ride from offshore islet Klein Bonaire add to its appeal.
