The Midtown Neighborhood

When it comes to Savannah best neighborhoods, you will find that the Midtown neighborhood will always be high on the list. Midtown is only about three miles from downtown. For that reason, it has all the hustle and bustle of downtown without actually being downtown.

In particular, Midtown is famous for its restaurants. If you are a foodie and plan on moving to a Savannah neighborhood anytime soon, you might want to pick the Midtown neighborhood as a place to settle down. In this neighborhood, you will find just about every kind of restaurant you can think of.

If you usually struggle to think of what you want to have for dinner, you’ll never have to struggle again once you see the huge variety of restaurants that are at your disposal. Whether you like BBQ or vegan food or anything else, you’ll be sure to find it somewhere in Midtown.

Even if you’re the pickiest eater in the world, there is sure to be a restaurant that will satisfy your taste buds. Midtown, in particular, is famous for its fried chicken restaurants.

Shopping and Housing In Midtown

Besides the restaurants, Midtown is also a perfect place for those who love to shop. Every step you take in Midtown, there will be some niche and interesting shops to pass by.

If your wardrobe is looking a little old, take a stroll through Midtown and you’ll have an entirely new wardrobe by the end of the day. You might even find some other interesting things to buy like home decor items and pieces of local art. This is not to mention that there are some very quaint cafes and bars that you can hang out at if you aren’t hungry enough to go to a restaurant.

These bars and cafes are also great places to meet new people. The only downside about Midtown is that there tend not to be too many houses for sale because Midtown is a relatively small area. If you do manage to nab a home in the Midtown neighborhood, the average price of a home in this area is around $275,000.

Tybee Island

In any Savannah neighborhood guide, you will find that Tybee Island is almost always very high on the list. Why might this be, you ask? When it comes to moving to Savannah with a family or if you plan on starting a family once you move, Tybee Island is the place you want to be.

Tybee Island is undoubtedly one of the best neighborhoods for families in all of Savannah. You might think that because this neighborhood is a family neighborhood it is set aside from all the hustle and bustle and that there must not be anything interesting to do. However, this isn’t true at all.

Instead, you will find that Tybee Island is only about 30 minutes from Savannah’s downtown area. So, if you want to enjoy city life, all you have to do is take a short drive into the city. Even though Tybee Island isn’t in the center of the city, there are still plenty of things to do.

Things to Do at Tybee Island

Tybee Island is also quite scenic since it is right by the ocean. This neighborhood is quite small, only about 5 miles in size, but all of it is situated along the coast. For that reason, this neighborhood has become more popular among tourists in recent years.

However, you shouldn’t let that deter you. The number of tourists that visit this hotspot isn’t that oppressive and they are only around at certain times of the year. For the rest of the year, you can enjoy the unique restaurants and points of interest that Tybee Island has to offer.

You also don’t have to worry about fitting into this neighborhood because everything about it is very casual. No matter what shop or restaurant you visit, wearing a simple pair of shorts and a T-shirt will be totally fine most of the time.
