Silversands Grenada Is Open Again

Grenada’s Silversands luxury boutique hotel has reopened its doors, Caribbean Journal has learned.

The opening comes as Grenada has reopened for international travelers, including those from the United States.

The boutique hotel, home to the longest infinity pool in the Caribbean, has relaunched with new cleaning, sanitization and social-distancing measures.

It’s home to 43 suites, along with eight hillside and beachfront villas.

Saint Lucia’s Marigot Bay Resort Just Reopened

One of the leading resorts in Saint Lucia is open again, Caribbean Journal has learned.

The Marigot Bay Resort, Spa and Marina began welcoming guests again this week.

The property, whose signature marina reopened earlier this summer, has launched a new health and safety program called Six Star CARE Promise, which it’s calling the “foundation of future travel to Saint Lucia by land and bay sea.”

The 57-residence property is set on what has long been considered one of the region’s most beautiful bays.

It’s also unveiled a new service called Marigot Moment Maestros, a butler-like service the property calls “beyond the traditional concierge” that is available to everyone.

Grenada Is Now Open for Tourism

Grenada is now officially open and welcoming tourists from the United States, Canada, United Kingdom and Europe, among other source markets.

It’s a major broadening of the island’s tourism relaunch, which began with allowances for travel from select source markets over the summer.

“Pure Grenada Just for You is the perfect place to escape to paradise,” Patricia Maher, CEO of the Grenada Tourism Authority, told Caribbean Journal. “Team Grenada has put the best measures in place to ensure the visitor experience is ‘Pure Safe Travels Approved.’ Now more than ever we are confident in our ability as a destination to offer the world a safe and enjoyable vacation.”

You can find Grenada’s most recent travel protocols here; most notably, all visitors to Grenada must produce proof of a COVID-19 negative test result within seven days of travel.

Crucially, all travelers from countries like the U.S., UK and Europe must stay at their hotel for a minimum of four days for observation and quarantine.

On the fourth day, travelers can get a PCR test to be allowed into the community, or they can forego the test and remain at the hotel for the duration of their visit.

All travelers to Grenada must fill out a pre-travel form (you can find it here) and download the Ronatrac contact tracing app.

British Airways Switching Bermuda Flights to Heathrow

British Airways is switching its London-Bermuda flights from London Gatwick Airport to London Heathrow, Caribbean Journal has learned.

The new London Heathrow-Bermuda service will launch on March 28, 2021, according to a joint statement from British Airways and Bermuda’s Ministry of Transport.

The flights will operate a range of frequencies from four times weekly to daily depending on the season.

“This is a signature achievement which will provide a foundation to extend Bermuda’s tourism reach into Europe,” said Bermuda Premier David Burt. “The entire team who worked on this deserves our thanks as we set the stage for a new opportunity for tourism growth. British Airways has been a longstanding and valued partner and through this relationship we have partnered in an innovative change that will be welcomed by all travelers to and from Bermuda.”

The flights, which will be operated on a Boeing 777-200 aircraft, will run out of the new airport terminal scheduled to open at Heathrow in December.

“We are enthusiastic about this London airport shift and have already begun talks with British Airways and local hotel partners to create special consumer offers to launch the Heathrow service next year,” said Bermuda Tourism Authority Interim CEO Glenn Jones. “While the city hasn’t changed, we treat this development like an entirely new route because we believe the whole European travel landscape changes now in a positive way.”
