Here Are Delta’s New Zac Posen-Designed Uniforms

Delta has officially unveiled its new uniforms designed by Zac Posen.

The company says the new line, which will be worn by more than 60,000 of the airline’s frontline employees, “fuses together bold color palettes and classic styles, while paying homage to the heritage and iconic design from decades past to elevate the look and brand of Delta employees.”

“We wanted Delta employees to look glamorous on the job without sacrificing functionality and style,” said Posen. “I worked alongside employees to understand how they interact with the clothes they wear and developed a look that empowers and excites, because we want Delta’s global workforce to exude the confidence and thoughtfulness that reflects the airline’s brand.”

Delta will begin by having 1,000 employees wear-test the uniforms in December and early 2017.

The full roll-out will begin worldwide in the first quarter of 2018.

“The world’s best employees deserve the best uniforms and this new collection is classically influenced, yet modern,” said Ed Bastian, Delta’s CEO. “Zac and the Delta team worked closely with our people to create timeless and fashionable pieces that reflect the thoughtful and innovative spirit of Delta.”

Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Is Hot

Antigua and Barbuda tourism is hot and getting hotter.

It’s been a strong year for the country’s tourism, and the numbers continue to improve.

The twin-island Caribbean country reported 200,185 visitors through the end of September, a 9.04 percent increase over the first three quarters of 2015.

More importantly, Antigua and Barbuda has become one of the fastest-growing destinations for visitors from the United States, with 18.71 percent growth through September, or a total of 84,500 visitors so far this year.

That makes the country one of the Caribbean’s hottest destinations, buoyed by new airlift from carriers like JetBlue, the region’s most advanced new airport, ramped up marketing and a series of high-profile investment deals that have raised the country’s image internationally (like, for example, the in-development Paradise Found project by Robert De Niro, who has been serving as one of the country’s special economic envoys).

That’s helped bring attention to what has long been one one of the Caribbean’s higher-end hotel stocks, from all-inclusive resorts like Galley Bay, St. James’s Club and Hermitage Bay to boutique hotels like Blue Waters.

“We are very excited by the incredible growth in US visitors to Antigua and Barbuda that is defying the overall trend of decreasing travelers to the Caribbean,” said Kim Jack Riley, Director of Tourism, USA, Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority. “With over 365 beaches, attractive hotels, resorts and properties to meet every price point, and over 100 dining options to choose from, Antigua and Barbuda has something for everyone looking for their next getaway.”

“Through our strategic outreach and engagement with both consumer and trade, we have ensured that the twin-island nation is top of mind for Americans booking their next vacation and look forward to continuing our predicted trend in double-digit growth,” Jack Riley said.

A Recipe for a “Caribbean Mule”

Let’s be honest: Any sun-drenched Caribbean vacation is cause for celebration. And in the Caribbean, we celebrate with rum.

And guests of The Grenadines’ Pink Sands Club can celebrate last week’s official opening of the 26-suite luxury resort with an appropriately festive libation, their signature Caribbean Mule.

Caribbean Mule

Served to your stool in the ocean-facing infinity pool or delivered to your pink (naturally) chaise on the stunning sweep of Godahl Beach, the concoction is made with St. Vincent’s local Sunset Light Rum. Affectionately known simply as “SLR,” the smooth white rum goes perfectly with the mango and passionfruit juice; ginger beer; and lime that comprise the satisfying swig. Squeeze and then drop the passionfruit garnish into if for a refreshing tang, and then enjoy a hint of effervescence from the ginger beer, and a potent punch of “OMG!” delivered by the SLR. It’s (literally) a taste of the Caribbean and a taste of Canouan’s finest new hotel, delivered in every sweet sip.

We’ll drink to that.

Jamaica to Host Major Global Tourism Conference in 2017

Jamaica is set to host a major conference by the United Nations World Tourism Organization next year.

The country will be the host of the first-ever UNWTO Global Conference on Tourism Development and Sustainability, according to Jamaica Tourism Minister Ed Bartlett.

“Next year has been declared by the United Nations as the International Year for Sustainable Tourism Development and we are very excited that little Jamaica has been selected to host such a prestigious event,” he said.

The conference will bring together 157 tourism ministers from around the world, along with around 500 tourism-related companies.

It will be the first time that the private and public-sector arms of the UNWTO are coming together for a global event.

“This is also a huge opportunity for the value-added side of tourism, such as health and wellness network, gastronomy and entertainment and music,” he said.

A Caribbean Christmas Cruise

Thinking of a new way to spend Christmas in the Caribbean? Why not try a cruise?

Enter Azamara, which is offering a special eight-night Caribbean Christmas Cruise out of PortMiami.

Azamara offers a very different kind of Caribbean cruise experience, with a focus on boutique service in its 690-guest ships. The company also offers what it calls Destination Immersion, which gives guests more time in port and a better chance to get to know a given place, rather than a quick multiple-hour stop.

And the small size means you can often hit ports larger ships simply can’t access, like Nevis and Virgin Gorda.

Indeed, this year’s sailing takes you to some of the Caribbean’s loveliest ports, with stops in large ports like St. Thomas and smaller gems like St. John, US Virgin Islands and the lovely town of Gustavia, St. Barth.

Amenities included on the trip include select standard spirits, international beers and wines, bottled water, soft drinks, specialty coffees and teas, shuttle service to and from port communities and concierge service, among others.

Suite guests receive English butler service, 235 complimentary internet minutes, complimentary dining in specialty restaurants and even afternoon tea service en-suite.

This year’s sailing is on the Azamara Quest ship.
