Ritz-Carlton Reserve Expanding to Mexico

 

Set along the coastline of  San José del Cabo with views of the Sea of Cortez, Zadún, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve will make its debut in early 2018.

This opening marks the fourth resort in the Ritz-Carlton Reserve portfolio, and the second in the Caribbean and Mexico region along with the Ritz-Carlton Reserve, Dorado Beach in Puerto Rico.

“We are extremely excited to add the exquisite Zadún to the evolving and expanding portfolio of Ritz-Carlton Reserve, an elevated standard of luxury set in remarkable locations. We are particularly excited by the growth this opening represents for our beautiful and diverse region,” said Tim Sheldon, President, Caribbean and Latin America, Marriott International.

The name Zadún is inspired by the unique topography and dunes of the region, and meant to evoke the experiences that guests at Ritz-Carlton properties around the globe, according to the company.

Set in some of the world’s most prized destinations, these estates draw inspiration from their locale and native cultures and offer a personal connection between guests and location.

The striking design of Zadún, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, will celebrate the desert and the sea.

Zadún, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve will feature 115 elegantly appointed suites and villas, many with their own private plunge pools, along with two championship golf courses and a 500-slip marina.

The Reserve also features a collection of Ritz-Carlton Reserve Residences.

Significant spike reported in counterfeit merchandise seized in Puerto Rico

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) San Juan Field Operations announced on Friday a significant increase of more than 300% in the seizure of counterfeit merchandise during the first two quarters of federal fiscal year (FY) 2017 compared to the same period in FY2016.

Expedia: Luxury Travel Demand Is Rising in the Caribbean

 

Luxury travel demand is rising in the Caribbean, according to a new report from the Expedia group.

The online travel agency says demand for luxury properties rose across much of the Caribbean in 2016, with an overall increase in demand of 20 percent.

That included the Dominican Republic, which saw a 15 percent increase in demand for luxury properties; Jamaica, which saw a 30 percent increase; Aruba, which reported a 20 percent increase and the Turks and Caicos, which showed a 35 percent jump.

“We’ve seen luxury travel continue to thrive throughout the world, including the Caribbean,” said Demetrius Canton, Director of Market Management for the Caribbean, the Expedia group. “Expedia works closely with hotel partners seeking to tap into new and growing markets, including the luxury segment, by utilizing the company’s innovative technology and global marketing strategies.”

Luxury hotel stays also featured longer booking windows (an average of 55 days), and longer lengths of stay (4.3 days) when compared to one-to-three star hotels, which showed booking windows and length of stay of 37 days and 3.2 days, respectively.

Luxury hotels are considered four and five-star properties, which represent more than 50 percent of Expedia’s travel demand in the Caribbean.
