A coveted waterfront site in the most exclusive residential enclave in Bermuda is headed to auction, Caribbean Journal Invest has learned.
The home at 12 Shell Point Road in Bermuda’s tony Tucker’s Town peninsula will be auctioned to the highest bidder on Saturday, March 20 at 11 AM EDT.
The auction is being held by Elite Auctions.
The property gives buyers the chance to “create their perfect Bermuda waterfront haven within the island’s most exclusive residential enclave,” according to Elite Auctions.
“This property is quite unique in that it combines a highly-coveted location with the fact that vacant waterfront building lots simply do not exist on the Tucker’s Town peninsula, and non-Bermudian homes in tear-down condition are a rarity here,” says Kristoffer Stewart, director of marketing at Elite Auctions. “The lifestyle, the location, the exclusivity of Tucker’s Town…. Altogether, this is an extraordinary opportunity, and it’s going to go to the highest bidder, regardless of price, on auction day.”
The property, called “At Last,” is a 1.4 acre lot that includes a 6,000-square-foot home built in 1952 that’s ready for either a remodel, a teardown or a rebuild.
The property, nestled between two 18-hole golf courses, has its own, recently-built private pier, along with a private dock, a boathouse and a boat slip.
It’s set on its own promontory in the Castle Harbour area, with a sandy beach that appears at lower tides.
Both the Mid-Ocean and Tucker’s Point golf clubs are within an easy walk or golf cart ride.
Bermudian architectural firm Benevides & Associates has designed a new residence and guest cottage for the site that would total 13,650 square feet.
Trinidad-based regional airline Caribbean Airlines is set to launch a major new route next month, Caribbean Journal has learned.
The carrier will be launching new nonstop flights between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport and Barbados.
The new route is slated to launch on April 1, according to the company, which operates both intra-Caribbean flights and service from North American cities.

This is a significant milestone for Caribbean Airlines, and reiterates our commitment to giving our customers options and access to regional and international destinations,” said Garvin Medera, CEO of Caribbean Airlines, in a statement. “This will further improve connectivity and expand our network which is one of our main objectives.”
The nonstop flight will operate one round-trip service each week, with flights from Barbados to New York on Thursdays and flights from New York to Barbados on Saturdays.
The highly anticipated reopening of AMResorts’ first-ever resort in the French Caribbean is now set for April 1, Caribbean Journal has learned.
The new Secrets St Martin, which had just debuted before the onset of the pandemic in March of last year, is taking reservations for an April 1 reopening.
The new all-inclusive is a major new addition to the French side of the island, a dramatic transformation of the former Riu Palace St Martin on the island’s scenic Anse Marcel beach (that property was largely destroyed in Hurricane Irma).
The new resort features a total of 258 suites along with six dining concepts and a spectacular oceanfront pool.

It will be reopening under AMResorts’ CleanComplete safety and hygiene protocols.
Despite a broader French border closure, the French side of St Martin is currently open for tourism, from its tiny boutique hotels like Karibuni to popular resorts like the Grand Case Beach Club.
Low-cost carrier Frontier Airlines has kicked off its Caribbean expansion out of Miami with new flights to St Thomas in the US Virgin Islands.
The new nonstop Miami-St Thomas flights are operating five times each week, with service on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays.
It’s another boost for the US Virgin Islands, whose tourism industry continues to show relative strength amid the pandemic compared to much of the Caribbean.
That’s been buoyed by a strong set of tourism protocols launched last summer (you can find more here).

The destination is also exempt from the new CDC testing requirements, meaning if you visit the USVI you don’t need to take a test before you return to the mainland U.S.
That’s along with one of the most complete reopenings of any destination in the Caribbean, from luxury hotels like the transformed Ritz-Carlton, St Thomas to the always-popular Bolongo Bay Beach Resort and its legendary Iggies bar.

The launch represents another new route for Frontier to St Thomas, following the carrier’s launch earlier this month of new flights from Orlando to St Thomas. That route is operating twice weekly.
Frontier just launched another new route from Miami to the Caribbean, with four flights each week between Miami and Punta Cana, the Dominican Republic’s tourism hub.
