Palm Cay Breaks Ground on $100M Bahamas Expansion Project

Nassau’s Palm Cay has broken ground on the new One Marina, a $100-million luxury and residential resort complex.

“One Marina” will have 84 two- and three-bedroom condominiums and penthouse complex with modern interior designs and high-end finishes.

“Not only are we here to make money for my shareholders, but we want to forge a really good partnership with the community,” said Bahamas Minister of Public Works, Desmond Bannister, who participated in the ground breaking ceremony this week. “We’re investing back in the community and our own resort.”

The project will include 24-hour security, a fitness center, a half-size Olympic swimming pool, boat tours, bike trail, children’s park, dockside cafe and beach bar and grill.

Bob Batchelor, Palm Cay’s Chief Executive Officer, called One Marina the company’s “most ambitious” project to date.

Designed by Winston Jones, it is expected to be completed by 2020.

All-Inclusive Grand Velas Joins Preferred Hotels

Grand Velas Riviera Maya, one of the leading all-inclusive hotels in the wider Caribbean region, has officially joined independent hotel brand Preferred Hotels and Resorts.

The property is one of 17 new members for Preferred this quarter.

The all-inclusive, which has regularly found itself among the best all-inclusive hotels in the region, has been joined at Preferred by Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit, which also became a member of Preferred.

Grand Velas’ other Mexico property, Grand Velas Los Cabos, also joined the collection.

Grand Velas was the only Caribbean hotel to join Preferred during the quarter.
