Turks and Caicos’ Newest Luxury Residential Resort Project

By the Caribbean Journal staff

Hyatt’s Andaz luxury brand is coming to the Turks and Caicos, and the highly-anticipated project will also include a residential real estate component that has already launched sales.

The new Andaz Residences will consist of a 74-unit brand residences component, most of which will enjoy panoramic ocean views on Providenciales’ iconic Grace Bay Beach.

It will be joined by a 59-key hotel tower.

That will include a mix of studios, one, two and three-bedroom residences, along with a variety of penthouses.

Now, the Andaz Turks and Caicos Residences at Grace Bay, as the real estate project is known, has officially tapped Sotheby’s International Realty as its exclusive broker.

“After spending time with the Andaz brand it seems clear that it is the perfect fit for Grace Bay and our islands,” said Joe Zahm, president-broker of Turks and Caicos Sotheby’s International Realty. “The Andaz brand ethos melds the best of our unique locale of sun, sand, sea, climate, people & vibe, and the residences are impeccably luxurious but relaxed in the comforting setting of a beachfront resort with on-site amenities.”

TCI architects RAD Architecture, who most notably designed the Shore Club on Long Bay and The Palms at Grace Bay have teamed with Modus Operandi on the design and interiors — a strong resume, given that the Shore Club has become the island’s leading luxury resort.

The units will range from 694 square feet to 9,000 square feet for the largest penthouse.

The Andaz project is being developed by Vista Development and its US parent, ProNet Capital, best known for the Grace Bay Club.

“After the success I’ve enjoyed at the Grace Bay Club, I am excited to immerse myself back into Turks and Caicos, as I see the Andaz development being the most talked about resort experience, and the next big thing for Turks & Caicos and the Caribbean”, said John Fair, director of development at ProNet.

Guyana’s Big New Real Estate Project

By the Caribbean Journal staff

A major new real estate project has launched construction in Guyana.

The $100.9 million USD Pegasus Suites is the largest single investment in the country, the brainchild of Robert Badal, owner of Guyana’s Pegasus Hotel.

The new project, which will be adjacent to the existing Pegasus, will have two towers: a 12-story luxury hotel tower and a seven-story adjacent corporate center.

It will also be green, with LEED Silver status, Badal said.

It will also be the second major hotel project in the country in the last several years, following the debut of the Guyana Marriott, also in the country’s capital, Georgetown.

“I think we need investment in Guyana, as a government, we have been encouraging our local businesses to invest, and we have been trying to attract foreign investment into Guyana. This is a show of confidence by a local investor, and we’d like this to be an example to other local investors,” said Guyana Business Minister Dominic Gaskin.

It’s a huge boost for Guyana, which has been slowly looking to increase its tourism footprint.

Guyanese officials have set a goal of at least 500,000 stayover visitors by 2025.

A New Luxury All-Inclusive Coming to Antigua

By the Caribbean Journal staff

A sexy new adults-only all-inclusive is coming to the island of Antigua.

The boutique Hammock Cove Resort and Spa resort is slated for a grand opening this year, likely in the fourth quarter.

The luxury property, which will be set just a few hundred years from Antigua’s spectacular Devil’s Bridge National Park, will overlook a protected bay.

With 40 suites, it will be all about intimate hospitality, with free-standing suites that come with their own plunge pools, personalized wine and liquor bars and a “modern Caribbean decor.”

The bathrooms will feature hand-selected tiles, dual sinks, and “huge nature inspired showers” with pebbled basins and four shower heads, according to the property.

Hammock Cove will also feature two restaurants, each with full bars, broad wine lists and “sophisticated menus.”

Other amenities will include a yoga pavilion, a fitness center and wellness programs.

Hammock Cove, which will soon begin taking reservations, is the latest project by Elite Island Resorts and its chairman, Rob Barrett, adding a new crown jewel to one of the region’s leading all-inclusive portfolios.

That includes a sizable presence in Antigua that includes Galley Bay, Pineapple Beach Club, St James’s Club and Villas and The Verandah.

It’s all helping to solidify the island’s place as the all-inclusive capital of the Caribbean.
