St. Lucia’s Jade Mountain, the Caribbean’s most architecturally stunning hotel, the place famous for its three-walled rooms and its infinity pools that look out on the Pitons, isn’t really like any other hotel in the Caribbean.

The minute you depart the welcome shuttle, you feel like you’ve touched down on another planet. This is an otherworldly place, with design you simply won’t find elsewhere.

And then you realize why. Nick Troubetzkoy, who designed this wonder of a place, had a vision for transcendence, a celestial place of never-ending possibility. If you stop for a moment, if you step back, it becomes clear the theme is infinity — and it’s not just the pools.

In the rooms, it’s not that there’s a missing fourth wall, but the idea that your room never stops — that your room and that spectacular view are joined and ever-fusing. The exposed pilings on the “bridges” to the rooms hint at future construction — but what they’re really saying is that nothing here is finished — here, there is perpetual possibility.

It’s rare to find a hotel like this — a hotel that you begs you to understand it.

And then you realize again — this isn’t a hotel. You’re staying in a work of art.

Celebrity Cruises has signed music superstar Demi Lovato to kick off its new Concert Series this winter season.

The concert will take place in St Maarten, and be available for four Caribbean itineraries: a 14-night Caribbean holiday on Celebrity Equinox, a 12-night Southern Caribbean holiday on Celebrity Eclipse, a 7-night Eastern Caribbean holiday on Celebrity Reflection and a 7-night Southern Caribbean holiday on Celebrity Summit.

All four ships will be in port for the concert, which takes place Dec. 28.

General admission tickets will be $100, with VIP tickets for $300.

Excellence Resorts has officially opened its newest luxury all-inclusive resort in the Dominican Republic.

The new Excellence El Carmen is a Punta Cana Adults-Only resort, and the brand’s second hotel in the Dominican Republic.

The massive property in the Uvero Alto area of greater Punta Cana has a total of 12 restaurants and 16 bars, along with a spa, fitness center and a total of 23 pools.

The hotel’s accommodations range rom junior suites to an Imperial Suite with a two-story rooftop terrace and a plunge pool; the latter is part of the resort’s Excellence Club.

All of the property’s suites have either ocean views or a private pool or a swim-up layout.

Excellence El Carmen becomes the brand’s fourth hotel in the Caribbean region, joining properties in Playa Mujeres, Riviera Cancun and another in greater Punta Cana.

There are a total of 502 suites across the property and its hotel-within-a-hotel Excellence Club.

Las Vegas-based air carrier Allegiant is planning an expansion to San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The company is launching two new routes to Puerto Rico’s capital out of Cincinnati and Pittsburgh.

The seasonal service from Cincinnati and Pittsburgh to Puerto Rico will launch Dec. 17, with fares starting as low as $79 one way, according to the company.

“We’re very excited to add several new routes to the [company’s] route map today,” said Jude Bricker, chief operating officer at Allegiant. “These new nonstop flights are launching just in time for our travelers to start planning their winter travel — whether they are flying to see friends and family or vacationing to one of our sunny destinations this holiday season.”

The company, which first launched operations in 1999, now has more than 80 aircraft operating flights on more than 300 routes.

Prince was a revolutionary, a man who changed what we think and known about music and the music industry.

But like many of the world’s biggest stars, he was a lover of the Caribbean.

And for Prince, it was Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands, one of the region’s top celebrity hotspots.

A frequent visitor to the archipelago, Prince was a homeowner there as well, having purchased a home in the Turtle Tail section of Providenciales.

His relationship with the British Overseas Territory was such that the TCI put out a message of condolence this week upon his passing.

“Prince was a homeowner and frequent visitor of the beautiful Turks and Caicos Islands,” said Premier of the Turks and Caicos Islands, Dr Rufus Ewing and the Minister of Tourism Porsha Stubbs-Smith. “He was often seen enjoying the sites of the islands and mingling with locals and visitors alike. On his many visits he also worked with local artists helping them to improve their craft.”

“Prince was music,” the TCI said “He was arguably one of the most influential musicians of modern times with hit records that transcended genres, race and age. Prince’s creativity and impact will forever live on in the hearts of those that loved him. We join the world in mourning the loss of a legend.”
