Why This Will Totally Change the Way You Snorkel

We all love to snorkel — there’s something visceral about breathing underwater, the only sounds the vibrations in the water, the darting of fish.

It’s one of the great draws for adventurers in the Caribbean — the chance to explore the world beneath the sea in an easy, comfortable way.

But too often snorkeling can be uncomfortable — whether it’s not being able to find the right tightness for your mask, or a leaky tube. It means coming up for air too often and it can ruin a snorkeling experience.

That’s where this gadget comes in, something that could change snorkeling forever.

Easybreath

The Tribord Easybreath is a great option, especially for elementary snorkelers.

It’s called the Tribord Easybreath snorkeling mask, and it’s a revolutionary design that takes away all of the potential pitfalls of snorkeling and streamlines everything into a single-piece, combination mask and snorkel.

More importantly, It’s the first mask that allows you to breathe naturally through your nose and mouth just as you would above water — not through a tube.

And because the transparent mask covers your face, there’s a much wider, 180-degree field of vision that doesn’t fog up thanks to a dual air-flow system.

Available in three colors, the Easybreath has a silicon skirt and a polypropylene rim and is even lighter than you’d expect.

We tested the Easybreath fully on a recent snorkeling trip in Dominica and were thoroughly impressed; it’s something that will radically change your snorkeling for the better.

And it doesn’t hurt that you feel like Darth Vader underwater, and that’s priceless.

To get yours, find the Easybreath here.

There’s something rather civilized about sipping a glass of champagne while you’re having breakfast on the beach. It’s moments like these that define the tranquil sophistication of The House, the Elegant Hotels boutique hotel that’s easily the best adults-only hotel in Barbados — and one of the best such properties in all of the Caribbean.

There's a free champagne breakfast included every day at The House.

This Platinum Coast standout is the essence of a great boutique hotel: from its loungey atmosphere to its terrific corner bar to the fact that Bajan institution Daphne’s is its house restaurant.

It’s features like its wonderfully comfortable lobby, a luxury living room of sorts that opens up right to the beach. Or the approach to the hotel, filled with torches and a wooden raised bridge. This is somewhere special — and you know the moment you arrive.

The House is all about finding that perfect balance between energy and relaxation, while never conceding the unique elegance that seems to define Barbados’ top hotels. And that’s something worth toasting to.

Chef Franck Mear at Le Pressoir, St. Martin’s best restaurant.

St. Martin

Plainly, the French side of St. Martin is the epicenter of great food in the Caribbean. There is no greater concentration of world-class restaurants anywhere in the region — and terrific street food to boot, from the famous lolos to several top bokit food trucks. And that’s just on Grand Case Boulevard. In simpler terms, it’s practically impossible to eat a bad meal here.
