United Expanding Nonstop Flights to St Kitts

 

United Airlines is expanding its nonstop flights to St Kitts, the country’s tourist board announced.

The carrier will be starting its Newark-St Kitts service earlier in the year and flying throughout the winter, summer and fall in 2017.

That will mean a doubling of the number of flights over the course of the year.

The expanded service will begin Nov. 19.

“I am very pleased that we will be receiving additional flights from United Airlines,” said the Hon. Lindsay F.P. Grant, Minister of Tourism, International Trade, Industry & Commerce. “The extension of United’s service will significantly increase capacity into the Federation from the New York metro area, a primary market for visitors to St. Kitts.”

Belle Mont Farm

United will operate its weekly Saturday service on Boeing 737-800 aircraft with capacity from 154 to 166 seats.

It’s the latest expansion for United, which has been steadily adding new routes and schedules in its wider Caribbean network in the last year.

Hyatt’s Newest Global Hires

 

Hyatt Hotels Corporation has named a pair of major new global hires.

The company has announced the addition of Jen Acerra as vice president for global brand research and insights, along with Heather Geisler as vice president for creative and field marketing.

Acerra will be reporting to Maryam Banikarim, global chief marketing officer at Hyatt, while Geisler will report to Sandra Micek, senior vice president for global brands.

Acerra comes to the company after serving most recently at Kraft Foods.

Geisler had most recently served as vice president for brand marketing at MSNBC.

A $2.6 Billion Hotel Project Is Coming to St Lucia

 

A major new hotel project is coming to the island of St Lucia.

In a landmark agreement, the country’s government led by Prime Minister Allen Chastanet has signed a deal with a Chinese developer on the southern portion of the island.

It’s called Pearl of the Caribbean, and it’s valued at $2.6 billion USD, according to estimates.

The Vieux Fort-area project will be the island’s first and only “international standard integrated development,” the government said in a statement.

St Lucia

That will include a hotel, a marina, a racecourse, a casino, a real estate component with villas and apartments, extensive” entertainment and leisure facilities and even a Free Trade Zone.

The complex, developed by Hong Kong-based firm called Desert Star Holdings, will also include horse racing component, one that will include housing for more than 1,000 racehorses “establishing Saint Lucia as a racing and entertainment centre in the Caribbean and leveraging off the international appeal of the sport to promote Saint Lucia to a diverse audience base,” the government said.

The 700-acre project is designed to have open space make up about 50 percent of the development.

Construction is slated to begin next year, with between 500 and 800 jobs projected during the construction phase.

Antigua’s Curtain Bluff Planning Upgrades

 

One of Antigua’s signature all-inclusive resorts is planning a series of upgrades for the upcoming season.

Curtain Bluff has announced plans to upgrade and re-introduce its signature Hulford Suites, along with adding new on-property services.

Each of the Halford suites at Curtain Bluff will come with a private infinity-edge pool on a terrace overlooking the sea.

The property also said it would launch new “Beach Concierge” service, available guests to get them whatever they need from setting up water sports to placing drink orders.

Curtain Bluff will welcome guests for the 2016/2017 tourist season beginning Oct. 22.
