Caribbean Moment: In St Martin, The Feeling of the Beach

A pleasure boat skims past. The waves wash back and forth. An owl reminds you he’s there.

A technicolor sunset.

This is what the beach feels like.

This is Grand Case, St Martin, and this is an homage to the kind of day we all fantasize about right now, about the sounds and the hues and the feelings of the Caribbean we all miss.

The stillness; the serenity; the way simple sounds are amplified, how a simple hoot or a single froth of a wave can mean so much more.

So take a virtual trip to the beloved Caribbean fishing village of Grand Case in St Martin (and the wonderful Grand Case Beach Club) and enjoy the latest Caribbean Moment.

Caribbean Airline LIAT Suspending Flights Through May 15

Caribbean regional airline LIAT is extending the suspension its flight services in the Caribbean to May 15.

The comes amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The decision was based on a review by the company’s Board of Directors and Executive Management, according to a statement.

“Several destinations have extended their border closures and instituted strict travel restrictions which mean that passengers are unable to travel,” said LIAT Chief Executive Officer Julie Reifer-Jones.

The airline said passengers who had booked flights during the period would automatically have their trips canceled and would receive “a full credit.”

Reifer-Jones said the airline “was working to resume operations across the LIAT network as soon as it was feasible to do so.”
