Prince’s Caribbean Island

Prince was a revolutionary, a man who changed what we think and known about music and the music industry.

But like many of the world’s biggest stars, he was a lover of the Caribbean.

And for Prince, it was Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands, one of the region’s top celebrity hotspots.

A frequent visitor to the archipelago, Prince was a homeowner there as well, having purchased a home in the Turtle Tail section of Providenciales.

His relationship with the British Overseas Territory was such that the TCI put out a message of condolence this week upon his passing.

“Prince was a homeowner and frequent visitor of the beautiful Turks and Caicos Islands,” said Premier of the Turks and Caicos Islands, Dr Rufus Ewing and the Minister of Tourism Porsha Stubbs-Smith. “He was often seen enjoying the sites of the islands and mingling with locals and visitors alike. On his many visits he also worked with local artists helping them to improve their craft.”

“Prince was music,” the TCI said “He was arguably one of the most influential musicians of modern times with hit records that transcended genres, race and age. Prince’s creativity and impact will forever live on in the hearts of those that loved him. We join the world in mourning the loss of a legend.”

Curacao’s Airport Just Got Even Better

In a new level of innovation for regional aviation, Curacao’s Hato International Airport has added major new technology to its immigration experience.

The airport has officially inaugurated its new state-of-the-art Automated Border Control system.

The system, known as “E-Gates,” provides for self-service passport control and immigration.

It follows the launch last year of new online “E/D” cards, which offer travelers the opportunity to fill out their immigration information online before they even board the flight to the Dutch Caribbean island.

“The e-gates allow the airport to become more modern, inviting passengers to enjoy easy border control check,” said Wilhelmus Ignacio, director of Curacao Airport Holding. “Aside from this benefit, it also allows the airport stakeholders to increase airport security, facilitation of travel, and enhanced border system integrity. It’s a transformation that is placing Curaçao International Airport in the forefront of innovation in airport management and passenger experience in the region.”

Here’s hoping the rest of the Caribbean follows suit.

Caribbean Hotels You Can Move To

It’s always so hard to leave a great hotel in the Caribbean. And then there’s that little whisper at the end of your stay — “what if I added another day?” “What if I stayed the whole weekend?” Or perhaps it’s “we should come here every December.” For some, though, there’s another call — to stay forever. And at an increasing number of top hotels in the Caribbean, it’s possible. At these hotels, there are residences adjacent to or within the hotels themselves, often offering all the same amenities but with larger spaces — and you can often either buy them and live there or buy them and put them into a rental pool when you’re elsewhere. So yes — you can buy a unit or villa at some of your favorite properties. These are Caribbean hotels you can move to.
